Nikolai Izvolov is a film scholar and Head of the Department of the History of Home Movie-making and the Theory of Film Art at the Scientific Research Institute of Film Art. With the efforts of Ilya Ehrenburg, Western European experimental films were first shown in the USSR in 1926. Their influence can be seen in the works of young directors of the revolutionary Soviet cinema such as Sergei Eisenstein and Vsevolod Pudovkin. Nikolai Izvolov will lecture on this program and the issues surrounding the subject. Admission free, limited places, booking required
