Sergey Sitar: architect, critic, editor-in-chief of PROJECT International. Architectural utopianism and philosophy address broad questions and offer
the most radical alternatives to prevailing views. Philosophy questions
those views which are formalized in the form of concepts and judgments.
Utopian planning seeks to “bomb” the stereotypes, embodied in the systems of
things and spaces. But how far-reaching is this spatial autonomy of visionary
architecture? How dependant does it remain on the discursive logic, on its
historical configuration? In order to answer this question Sergey Sitar traces
how the evolution of sexuality, gender differences and ethical
imperatives are reflected in the European utopian imagination of
different eras.
