Time Sets from the Future

Olesya Turkina is a leading curator, critic and researcher at The Newest Trends
Department at the Russian Museum. She is author of a number of scholarly articles on Western-European and Russian art and curator of the Russian Pavilion at the 48th Venice Biennale.

Her lecture reconsiders utopian ideology, always looking to the future, which, in turn, determines our attitude towards the present. This inverse perspective, where cause and effect change places, can be compared with the experience of dreaming. The lecture will examine dreams of the contemporary artists of the Futurologia exhibition, addressed to the future of avant-garde art and its connection to the past.
