We invite you to come hear Slavoj Žižek – Slovenian cultural critic and philosopher, and one of the world’s foremost thinkers. Internationally renowned for his unique philosophical position that marries Hegelianism, Marxism and Lacanian psychoanalysis, Žižek’s is a prominent critical voice that famously disregards distinctions between high and low culture and grapples with all of life’s idiosyncrasies.

Brian Dillon from the Daily Telegraph explains ‘Slavoj Žižek may well be the last great thinker of our time... It's his range that impresses—he's equal parts forbidding theorist of the contemporary political and cultural scene, and contriver of entertainingly elaborate paradoxes. If it weren't for the hangdog persona and residual communism, he'd be an intellectual dandy: the closest thing we have to the mock-aristocratic socialist Oscar Wilde.’

Slavoj Žižek is a Slovenian philosopher and cultural critic. Žižek is a senior researcher at the Institute of Sociology, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and a professor at the European Graduate School. He is currently the International Director of the Birkbeck Institute for the Humanities, Birkbeck College, University of London. His books include Living in the End Times (2010), First as Tragedy, Then as Farce (2009), In Defense of Lost Causes (2008), four volumes of the Essential Žižek, and many more.

This event is organized by ArtChronika Cultural Foundation.
