Limited seating available, arrive early to ensure availability
Exclusive exhibition opening parties, midnight working hours on weekdays,
interactive computer games – this is the norm for a new generation of public
institutions in France. During this series of lectures, directors and curators
from leading French contemporary art institutions will discuss the available
means to modernize museums and create lively, vibrant spaces that reject the
definition of museums as ‘graveyards’ for art.
The Palais de Tokyo in Paris does not have any direct ties to Japan. The
building is detached from the river Seine by a street which once bore the name
Avenue de Tokyo. Today, Palais de Tokyo is an innovative contemporary art
space, home to sophisticated installations and objects of modern design. The
museum is open six days a week until midnight for contemporary art
enthusiasts.
Join Palais de Tokyo’s Director and Chief Curator Marc Olivier Wahler as he
discusses the center’s exhibition program, which tackles themes like androids,
schizophrenia and quantum physics. The talk will include approaches to
discussing art, public relations and the art and business of running a
contemporary art space.
