Do we need a policy of aesthetics? In Russia, like in the Netherlands, a
question remains on whether it is reasonable to create state-regulated
committees to assess construction projects from an aesthetic point of view. Is
there a future for such committees in our liberal economy? And if so, how will
architects and construction companies interact with such committees?
The Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAI) is one of the most prominent
architecture centers in the world. It organizes top level exhibitions and
lectures, surveys and education programs. It also has an impressive
architecture archive and library. For several years, NAI and its foreign
partners have organized discussions in various countries, titled Discussion
Tours.
Both Dutch and local speakers are invited to join the discussions to facilitate
the exchange of knowledge at a higher level by discussing global architecture
and issues of urban planning that exist in various parts of the world.
