New Moscow Art Community Project

Maria Kravtsova, Tatyana Volkova
September 5, Monday
Presentation19:00

Join curators Maria Kravtsova and Tatyana Volkova as they present their exciting project New Art Community. The curators invite photographers, artists, experts and art lovers to delve into their personal photographs and choose images of their 21st century art icons. Taking inspiration from photographic archives such as the renowned Surrealist photo chronicles or Sergei Borisov’s cult images of the 1980s, New Art Community wants to capture and document the rising stars of contemporary art today.

This groundbreaking new project will culminate in a virtual online exhibition of this archival material, and selected images will be included in the ‘Portrait Gallery’ of the Russian Contemporary Art Archive (www.artkladovka.ru).

Terms of participation:
Both professional and amateur photographers are encouraged to take part in the project. The files must be in JPG format, and not exceed 1MB. To qualify, photographs must have been taken during the last ten years. The images must be accompanied by the following information: full name and contact details of the photographer, names of depicted persons, year and location of the shooting. Send entries to portraits2000@gmail.com before 1 October 2011.

Maria Kravtsova is an art historian, critic, curator and a regular contributor to Artpress (France), ArtNews (USA), ART+AUCTION (Russia), ArtChronika (Russia) and OpenSpace.ru.

Tatyana Volkova is a curator and co-founder of ZHIR gallery, author of a number of contemporary art texts and a member of a team of curators responsible for projects such as Associates (2005), Russian Pop Art (2006) and Sots Art: Political Art in Russia (2007), organized at the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
