Hear one of the most influential voices of contemporary art today - Bice
Curiger (director of the 54th Venice Biennale and co-founder of the publication
Parkett) in conversation with Jacqueline Burckhardt (art historian,
curator, editor and publisher of Parkett) as they share their unique
insights into the world of art publishing and curating. Together, they will
explore the role of the editor and curator, the relationship between art
publishing and the art institution, and the importance of the art publication
today.
Bice Curiger (b.1948) – Swiss Art historian, curator, author and
editor. Bice Curiger is director of the 54th Venice Biennale (2011);
editorial director of Tate etc.Tate Gallery, London (since 2004). Bice
has been the curator of world famous Kunsthaus in Zurich since 1993, she has
curated numerous exhibitions including Katharina Fritsch (2009);
Sigmar Polke (2005); Georgia O’Keeffe (2003); Public
Affairs (2002); Martin Kippenberger, Sigmar Polke, Thomas
Hirschhorn (all 1998-2001); Peter Fischli / David Weiss, Fragen &
Blumen, Tate Modern, London (2007); Meret Oppenheim Museum
Guggenheim, New York (1995/6); Doubletake, Collective Memory & Current
Art, Hayward Gallery London and written and edited many accompanying
catalogues and publications. Bice Curiger received the Heinrich Wölfflin
Medaille - an award the City of Zurich bestows for merits in art criticism
(2007).
