The design of album covers changed dramatically in the 20th century, they provided artists with a new creative format, evolving from purely functional to art. Iconic names including David B. McMacken, Cal Schenkel, Peter Corriston, David Bailey, Andy Warhol and Hipgnosis have all created work in the medium of vinyl cover and many have gained cult status. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, U2, Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart. Valery Posternak will examine the rise in popularity of these designs, and discuss the intricate relationship between music and design. Valery Posternak (b.1962) - vinyl records collector, music journalist, art-director of «Ikra» club, first editor-in-chief of the Billboard magazine (Russian edition).
