Museum cycle. The brief history of curating. Hero №2: Pontus Hulten

Anna Arutiunova
October 28, Thursday
Lecture19:00

Museum Cycle is a series of introductory sessions focusing on curators and museums. The series includes lectures about important museum buildings, strategies and curators who have influenced and shaped today’s art scene. The session is based on the book A brief history of curating (2008) by notable curator, and current co-director of the Serpentine Gallery in London, Hans-Ulrich Obrist. The book is a compilation of interviews with eleven internationally acclaimed curators – Obrist’s ‘heroes’.
Pontus Hultén (1924 – 2006) was a Swedish art collector and museum director. He is one of the most distinguished museum professionals of the twentieth century. He was the pioneering former-head of the Museum for modern art in Stockholm and in the 1970s he was invited to participate in the creation of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, becoming its first director.
Limited Places, drop in early to avoid disappointment.
