In the last 50 years, the vinyl sleeve has developed from perfunctory
packaging to art-object. Discussing the different phases the design these
iconic ‘envelopes’ have gone through is Valery Posternak, a devoted collector
of vinyl, who produced his own album with the band Colney Hatch in the 1990s.
Amongst other questions, Posternak will consider: what is happening to vinyl
sleeves now? What are the differences between American and British designs? How
were album sleeves decorated in the Soviet Union? Valery Posternak - collector of vinyl, music journalist, art director of Ikra club, first head editor of Billboard magazine (Russian edition).
