Alexandra Obukhova’s lecture will explore Russian performance art in the wider
context of its emergence. Although individual Russian perfomances have been
previously studied there is a lack of written documentation on some periods,
this lecture series offers an overview of the eventful history of the art form
including rare insights to lesser known performances. It is an excellent
opportunity to re-examine current assumptions about performance practice, while
seeing unique archival material, courtesy of the Art Projects fund and the
studio Art via Video.
