Two of the most significant names in Russian performance-art, Natalya
Abalakova and Anatoly Zhigalov will discuss some of the projects they have
created during their forty-plus years in performance. Working within the
avant-garde, the artists create works that investigate the perimeters of art,
and address the function of art in society. As part of «100 Years of
Performance»
Since the end of 1970's, the artists have been working on the project called
Investigation of the Essence of Art in Relation to Life and Art (TotArt) during
which a huge amount of actions, performances, installations and films have been
produced. The artists are very involved in both literary and critical activity,
including the compilation of MANI (Moscow Archive of the New Art).
